Does it seem like you are doing everything possible to weight loss? Are you having a hard time losing weight, and you can’t figure out why it is so hard to get rid of those last few pounds? Sometimes, people make weight loss mistakes without realizing that they are sabotaging their efforts. Here are a few self-sabotaging factors for you to avoid: yet the scale won’t budge?
1- You’re drinking too much.
Drinking water is great, but if you are sipping on fluid calories, which are easy to overlook, you could be sabotaging your weight loss. Sodas, sweetened teas, milk, juice, and alcohol all add a significant amount of calories to your day. Instead, focus on eating your calories versus drinking.
2- You’re staying up too late.
A study found that individuals who stay up late tend to eat higher fat and higher calorie foods, making them more prone to weight gain. In addition, inadequate sleep can leave you feeling tired the next day, resulting in stronger food cravings and increased appetite.
3- You think exercise gives you a pass.
If the treadmill shows that you burned 500 calories, that does not mean you can eat an additional 500 calories that day. Most people, and even exercise machines, overestimate the number of calories they burn when exercising, so eating back this estimate of calories will result in weight gain rather than loss. The best solution: Exercise 30 to 60 minutes most days of the week while following your normal weight-loss meal plan. If your appetite increases after a workout, snack on a low-calorie, high-protein option such as a low-fat string cheese or a hard-boiled egg.
