  • 1 kg Chicken
  • 1 kg rice Soaked
  • 1 cup Yogurt
  • 1 cup oil
  • 1 tsp cumin seeds
  • 7 Green cardamon
  • 7 cloves
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 3 Bay leave
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1 tbsp red chilli powder
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup Mint leaves
  • 4 big onion sliced
  • 2 tbsp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 4 to 5 Green Chilli
  • 1 tsp orange food color
  • 1/4 cup milk


  • Marinate Chicken with yogurt, lemon juice, salt, red chilli powder, ginger garlic paste, 1/2 tsp cumin seeds and 1/2 tsp black pepper..
  • In a deep pan heat the water with 1/2 cup mint leaves, 1/2 tsp cumin seeds, 1/2 tsp black pepper, salt, bay leaves and cinnamon sticks and cook the rice..
  • Heat oil in other pan and fry onion till golden brown and remove them from oil..
  • Now add in this oil marinated chicken and stir for 2 to 4 minutes and cover for 5 minutes..
  • After 5 minutes fry chicken till cook ...
  • Grease the deep pot with oil and put half rice then sprinkle mint leaves, fried onions and add chicken mixture then again make a layer with rice and sprinkle mint leave and fried onion..
  • Add orange food color in milk and mix well then pour on top..
  • Cover the pot and simmer it for 25 minutes on slow heat...
  • Hyderabadi Biryani is ready to serve..
