Want to promote peace in your family? You just have to make a few changes, and so… you will find peace in your home. To make it easy for you, I am sharing the simplest ways to promote peace in your home. Happy family! Happy you!
After a long tiring day out, what we all need? A happy and peaceful home environment! Our homes are a place to settle in and unwind. I am sure; this will not surprise you!
How much our surroundings have a deep effect on how we feel, right? While we find ourselves dealing with many concerns, responsibilities, and we try to keep our minds calm through it all, what we only need is ‘PEACE’.
How To Promote Peace In Your Home?
“Happiness, true happiness, is an inner quality. It is a state of mind. If your mind is at peace, you are happy. If your mind is at peace, but you have nothing else, you can be happy. If you have everything the world can give – pleasure, possessions, power – but lack peace of mind, you can never be happy.”Dada Vaswani
One way to inculcate a bit of peace into your home is by being conscious about your living space. How often do you create routines in your home? These minor changes can bring peace at your home. Decoration your surrounding space can keep your senses happy. Rethink to create a peaceful home environment. It can make a big difference to your mood.
Adjustment can make life a worldly ideal. The more you compromise, the more you will be at peace. You will feel your strengths increasing and weaknesses diminishing. There are a dozen ways that you can do immediately to attain peace and harmony within your family.
1. Designate spaces
Peace is a hard thing to come by. But with a perfect designated space, it definitely becomes an easy thing to achieve.
We all love creating a sanctuary or designating a home “office” area. To free up your thoughts we design our study area too. Just like this, designing your living space is much important (why?). When you spend time with your loved ones, it reflects.
This small practice can make your home nice looking and peaceful too. Bringing nature inside of your home will boost love more. Design your space with plants to bring a calming effect in your home. You can either grow indoor plants or simply buy them. The smell of the flowers will uplift the environment of your place. Which place of your home you are going to design this week?

2. Nurture Relationships
Healthy relationships are perfect way to live a peaceful life. If your relationship with your husband or kids is tense, your home will lack peace. Living under the same roof, then, causes discontent and stress. And it becomes really difficult to attain peace.
Make sure to spread love among your kids. When the siblings fight, they are angry and they can’t get along. Peace disrupts. A little nurturing effort towards your relationships goes a long way to promote peace in your home.
Invest time in every relation. A romantic conversation with our spouse, a few extra minutes reading with kids at bedtime, may flow peace-filled love abundantly in our home.
3. Allow natural light to come in
Natural light is something that brings utmost peace in your home. It can also have a drastic impact on your mood. Also, sunlight affects your lifestyle.
People who don’t let sunlight in their homes are at more risk of depression. A disorder, called Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) results, when don’t get enough sunlight. It is most common in the winter when there is lower natural light. According to the doctors, SAD symptoms include having low energy, a feeling of stress, depression, hopelessness, insomnia, and not able to focus properly.
Letting in as much natural light as possible will help you get rid of feelings that disrupt your peace. Don’t you have many windows in your house? Make big size windows in your home. Position mirrors across from the windows to reflect natural light. It will spread throughout your home. Take advantage of natural light.
4. De-clutter where you can
“In the never-ending battle between order and chaos, clutter sides with chaos every time. Anything that you possess that does not add to your life or your happiness eventually becomes a burden.”― John Robbins, The New Good Life: Living Better Than Ever in an Age of Less
De–cluttering is always a real challenge. But, at the end, you enjoy more peace. Do not set things down and leave them until they become tangled piles in every room. You must not ignore extra or maybe useless stuff. Immediately put things away to get a calm state of mind. This is a better way for your sense of peace in the long run.
An uncluttered home will bring more clear sense. Cleaning the bedroom will relax you. Make a habit to clean knick-knacks off of the kitchen counter every month. With less clutter around, your mind will free of internal stress. What things you will de-clutter this week to enjoy peaceful mind?
5. Choose Love
When you get tired of hectic work schedule, it is really easy to lose peace. Take a deep breath and try to sort out complexities. At the end, what actually matters…is love, isn’t it?
Set up your home’s environment where there is love only. No hate! No offense! Teach your kids too. See your family matters through the lens of love. Make your stressed spouse and kids happy. Do not get upset. Try to understand situations and handle them with love.
Communicating with love is a best way to promote peace in your home. Let go hard things coming your way and apologize. You can now enjoy peace in your home!
“The peace of God is first and foremost peace with God; it is the state of affairs in which God, instead of being against us, is for us. No account of God’s peace which does not start here can do other than mislead”.J. I. Packer
What brings peace to you heart and mind? Connection with God, off course!
You must take time each day to focus on prayers. It will remind you that you have someone bigger than you to lean on. Taking your thoughts, worries, and fears to God in prayer will make you feel relaxed.
What big worry will you carry to God in prayer? Tell Him about it. Share your sadness and petition Him for provision. He will bless you with peace whether you ask with a helping hand or the grace, He will bless you.
Make sure to talk to your kids about prayer. Tell them why we should always bring worries to Him. Doing this, your home will become an epitome of peace.
7. Set Work Boundaries
Now, at these times, where we like working at home, it’s hard to set boundaries. But for the sake peaceful life, setting work boundaries is really important. Making a schedule not to get caught up with work is a perfect idea. Following it strictly is mandatory too!
If you don’t set work boundaries, not only your home will be ignored but your kids will also be busy with devices all the afternoon.
Try spending quality time with everyone at your home. Do not bring your office work to home. Discussing work at dining table or at living lounge is where peace starts rolling. Making strict boundaries with your schedule and refusing to let the endless demands of work will fill your home with peace.
