Get started – sign up!
Firstly, you will have to visit the WordPress website. To sign up for your own blog, click on the get started button which you will see on the left side of the page. A new blog has been created.

After signing up, you will receive an email which will contain the link for the activation of your blog. Click on the active blog button in the email to get started. Once completed, you will see a window called dashboard which is where you edit and make blog posts.
On the left hand side of your blog, you will see the settings tab. Go to settings then click general. Here, give your blog a catchy title and a tagline. Adjust your privacy settings to your preference and take a look at all the features on the dashboard.
Once you are ready to start blogging, choose a theme that you think is best suitable for your blog. Go through all the WordPress themes available under the Appearance tab on the left hand of the dashboard. Not all the themes are available for free, but you can change the theme anytime you want.
Customizing your blog:
With every blog, there come a number of widgets that can be seen on the right hand side on the blog. Examples of some widgets are a search bar, a Facebook like option etc. To add or remove widgets, click on the Widgets link. Drag the widgets you would like to have in the widget boxes that can be seen on the right side of the screen. To remove them, simply drag them out of the widget box and place them in the available widgets area.
Once you have posted an informative and interesting blog post, you will want more and more people to read it. For this purpose, you will need to start the promotion of your blog to increase the number of your readers. Promotion can be done through emails and social media sites like Facebook and Twitter
