We live for technology – the latest and greatest, especially when it comes to wearable technology that can help us achieve better human performance. Ever since Apple released the iPod in 2001, 20 years ago, society has been obsessed with the power to make life better, more accessible, and more optimal. But when it comes to fitness, there are a few players in the game with their first release in 2015. In the same year, Apple Watch has been closely matched yet also offers significantly different features and benefits based upon what metrics you find most important for an athlete. We’ll take a deep dive into the differences between Whoop vs. Apple Watch and see which one is best for you.

The Apple Watch

Apple released the latest series of its Watch for a more prominent display and easier typing. With machine learning, the text is a fast and accurate way to use the Watch, making quick response possible. The Series 7 is 33% faster than past models in charging speed. Apple Watch provides a more comprehensive and pertinent user experience.

Apple’s fitness features are constantly being updated with new content and exercises. There are new weekly workouts, from 5 to 45 minutes in length, like HIIT, Strength, Pilates, and Yoga. There is even a guided meditation app with helpful reminders to help you focus on your wellbeing.

In addition, the Apple Watch is waterproof; it can withstand water up to 50 meters deep. This allows you to measure swim metrics with accuracy.

The WHOOP

The WHOOP Strap is unlike the Apple Watch because it is less focused and exclusive; anyone can purchase it. WHOOP is specialized and focused on a specific demographic that values deeper insights into what your body needs and how it functions. WHOOP provides metrics for recovery, performance, and increased therapy efficiencies

The WHOOP strap focuses on a few specific parameters, including sleep quality, strain scores, recovery, and heart rate. With the purchase of this wearable, you can track your sleep constantly to find the best technique for improving the quality of your rest.

WHOOP monitors your sleep precisely, recommending hours needed for optimal recovery and tracking stages, disturbances, respiratory rate, and more. WHOOP tracks the time you spend in bed, how quickly you fall asleep, and the efficiency of workout recovery. The metric of each stage is measured accurately: slow-wave sleep (SWS), REM, light, and awake.

Regularly monitoring your sleep will help you know how to do better in your activities and give you valuable analytics that can help you soothe those performance deficits and increase your daily endurance. The WHOOP strap gives you essential information about your daily, weekly, and monthly activity levels and how well you sleep to maximize your performance level with your body.

Difference between whoop and Apple watch

The Apple Watch Series 7 is first and foremost a wristwatch, but it can also track your activity and show how many calories you’re burning. It’s also in Apple’s best interest for health and fitness because Activity+ is one of its most important

The WHOOP is a specialized fitness tracker that provides deep insights into the state of your whole body. This isn’t for you if you are looking for an all-purpose tracker.

The Apple Watch ranges from a fitness tracker to a watch primarily designed as a wrist-friendly phone, but you won’t find out how the device “works” or its health-related functionalities here. The article will focus on the activity and sleep tracking capabilities, where I think the value of this particular product lies right now. However, certain “extras” make the WHOOP strap worth wearing for years. But wait, we’ll get to those in a minute!

These are the main differences between the Apple Watch vs.Whoop

The pricing review

One main difference between Apple Watch vs.Whoop is the Apple Watch 7 is that the price starts at $399, while subscription services such as Fitness+ will require a monthly fee. With other complementary features such as Apple Music also requiring a subscription, there are some substantial differences in price between these two different wrist wearables.

If the Whoop 4 speaker is engaging, you can purchase a prepaid trial for $30 or an 18-month subscription for $18 each month. Like Apple, this allows you to pay more for additional features like the extra color (you get one free), but this only applies to the Whoop 4 speaker.

Health and Fitness

The Apple Watch 7 and the Whoop 4 have many health-related features on board beyond fitness tracking. The Apple Watch 7 allows you to measure your blood oxygen level automatically over the day with an effective sensor. You can also take a reading with an effective sensor at any time to see the whole blood oxygen level. This is sent to your phone’s Health app, where it can be stored.

A single-lead ECG can quickly be taken with the Apple Watch 7 by creating two points of contact: your wrist and your finger pressed against the digital crown. Fall detection, stress reminders, and a dedicated meditation app are included.

The Whoop 4 is more than a simple fitness tracker because it collects a wide range of health data. The device contains heart rate, skin temperature, blood oxygen levels, resting heart rate, heart rate variability (more on this later), and respiratory rates. It is easy to send this information to your doctor for evaluation or analysis.

Wearable devices can help you keep track of your health and fitness needs. These devices incorporate a wide range of valuable features for tracking various measurements of your body.

Fitness Tracker Techniques

The Apple Watch 7 has the same sensor as the 6, which can track your heart rate, workout activities, and distance. It will automatically detect when you are exercising and don’t manually have to do anything to start tracking. A new feature for the 7 that especially appeals to cyclists is it can now be detected when a bike ride begins. And, with audio feedback from your speed and distance, there is no more data to help you with your performance.

The Activity Rings on the model indicates how much you have moved, exercised, and stood. You can also share your level of activity with your friends and family. For example, if one person beats their score and the next person beats theirs, a competitive game may result from such competition.

You can also access Apple Fitness+, which features a new workout every week. Through this service, your real-time metrics are accessed onscreen with 11 different types of workouts.

The Whoop 4 has a different tracking of your fitness with its Activity Rings. It tracks your data using its 5 LEDs and four photodiodes which track you continuously without needing to tell it.

You can track your day or week-long strain level with the Strain score on Whoop. There is also a personalized Coach that helps you stay track of how hard or easy you want your body to work.

Whoop Live allows heart rate data to be in real-time overlaid over a video of you working out. This can be very helpful if you want a detailed picture of how effectively different parts of your workout are. The Whoop 4 is also BLE compatible, so it can broadcast heart rate without having your phone nearby.

Better Sleep, Recovers Faster

If you’re trying to track your sleep, then WHOOP. Apple Watch does track how long you slept, but it doesn’t have the same holistic benefits as WHOOP. It only tracks the length of each sleep cycle.

The Apple Watch also does not track recovery, like how many hours of sleep you need or when to go to bed. But WHOOPS is a specialty and niche app that focuses on the recovery process, giving users personalized information about sleep. With a unique interface for managing your next day’s sleep cycle, this app not only tracks data about your sleeping patterns but also suggests valuable tips on how to optimize them.

Battery Life

Battery life has been a problem for the Apple Watch, but Apple introduced fast charging technology to make it easier to handle. It now has an 18-hour battery life and faster charging. It depends entirely on how you use the Watch what you do with it, how much power it uses, etcetera.

The Whoop 4 doesn’t have the same screen issues as the Apple Watch 7 due to its lack of display and potential for sensors. The battery can last for days on a charge. With Whoop 4, you also receive a battery pack which is charged separately. This battery pack can be attached when or after you use it.

They say that Whoop is designed to be worn 24/7, and they mean it. You never have to take your Whoop off to charge it.

Which smartwatch should you buy?

Whoop struggled to get accurate heart rate readings during my weight training workouts. Furthermore, its recovery score was questionable 10% of the time because of imperfect sleep tracking. It seems as though the results are accurate, but I will go ahead with the assumption that they might not be. I’ll go ahead as if there is no issue with the data.

Apple Watch is an excellent choice if you want the perfect exercise tracker and motivation companion. It has a screen for starting your workout and for checking your status during workouts. Perhaps best, you can leave your phone at home and still access accurate fitness tracking, music, and payments from your Apple watch.

I hope this article would help you decide between Whoop Vs. Apple Watch.
