Starting this week, we’re going to feature a hot celebrity couple and how I’d prefer a fairytale wedding style based on their personalities. This will give you a glimpse into the creativity that goes behind the wedding planning magic.
For our first Celebrity Weddings installation, here are my top picks for creating an edgy yet dreamy wedding for singer/actress Ashlee Simpson and actor Evan Ross who got engaged on January 13, 2014, and are expected to the knot this weekend at Diana Ross’ estate in Greenwich, CT., planned by my friend Mindy Weiss.
Ashlee’s Bridal Style
Everyone knows Ashlee Simpson to be a sharp contrast to big sis Jessica Simpson – part rebel, part country girl, and all around rocker chick.
Evan Ross is the breakout baby face actor with the world-famous mom, Diana Ross. Together, the lovebirds are a perfect blend of edginess and that’s the inspiration behind my own design perspective on what I’d do for their big day.
As a rocker chick with a style all of her own, I would dress Ashlee in this gorgeous Boho-chic-inspired gown that has a sexy silhouette and would perfectly complement Ashlee’s body. I call this rock star chic meets southern charm.
Of course I don’t see Ashlee being a traditional bride at all. So I would have her go for this lace headband adorned with strands of pearls that would compliment her Boho-chic-inspired gown. How’s that for infusing your own personality into your wedding look?
Bouquet and Wedding Party Picks
With a gown as uniquely detailed as Ashlee’s, there’s no way I would hide it with a huge bouquet. Besides, Ashlee doesn’t come off as a traditional bride and needs something different like my signature Morgan Cuff but in all black to add a stark contrast with her white wedding gown. Absolutely stunning!
Her wedding party should don an eclectic mix of high-fashion couture and comfort as portrayed in this stunning photo from Megan DiPiero Photography. Keeping the colors donned by the wedding party muted allows the décor to really pop with color inside of the celebration.
Wedding Location and Decor
The rumor is that Diana Ross will host the wedding at her Connecticut Estate. But I see the Middleton Oak at the historical Middleton Place in Charleston, South Carolina as the ideal backdrop for their celebration.
I would install a hand-painted transparent backdrop behind the couple. And illuminate the same branch and tree pattern reflected in the Middleton Oak tree to simply lower the beauty of this gorgeous tree while bringing guests more into the experience.
Nothing looks more elegant and sultry than to compliment a Boho-chic. And rocker glam inspiration with these black ghost chairs I found on WedLuxe.com. Moreover, here’s a photo from Daniela Ciuffa Photography to help you envision the look. The chairs add a sleek edge to the setting and give it a rustic feel.
However, I love working with a blank canvas and would whip up something magical with a tented reception using eclectic images that help to tell my design story – and their love story.
However they decide to celebrate their big day, I know it will be fabulous!
