You’ve been taught to “go with your gut” and follow your instincts. But wouldn’t it be great if you could strengthen your intuition? Follow the hunches that’ll bring you more luck in life. Good news! Luck can be learned, says Ellen Whitehurst.
“In researching recent scientific studies about luck for my soon-to-be-launched ‘The Luck Project. It is a digital media experience complete with a website, worksheets, audio-guided meditations, etc. I’ve come to find out that luck really can be taught,” says Whitehurst. There are four characteristics or qualities that lucky people have in spades. One of those qualities is the ability to tap their intuition in order to follow their lucky hunches. “The Universe is constantly giving us ideas, inspirations, and intuitive messages to help us live our best and luckiest lives ever. But becoming aware of that information takes a conscious effort.”
Exercises
Fortunately, you don’t have to be a master of meditation in order to sharpen your intuition. Here are three easy exercises that will help you channel your energy and tune into your mind:
Think Freely.
If there’s a certain question that’s been bothering you—whether it’s about your career, love life, or whatever is on your mind—seek out the answer by taking 20 minutes to think freely. Break out your journal or a piece of paper, and ask yourself the question you need help with. Breathe in and out 9 times (because 9 is the most powerful and auspicious number according to the ancient art of Feng Shui), wait 15 seconds, and then breathe in and out 9 times again to cleanse your aura. Write down any word that pops into your head for the next 20 minutes.
After your 20 minutes are up, create a paragraph out of the words you’ve written down. Even if there doesn’t initially appear to be a connection between the words you’ve jotted down. Once you read your “story,” you’ll see that it clearly answers the question you’ve had on your mind.
Use Your Third Eye.
Another way to reassure yourself that you’re on the right path is to use your ‘third eye’—the mind’s eye that perceives things beyond ordinary sight. You can access it by meditating in front of a candle flame for ten minutes. While staring at the flame, rhythmically tap the middle area of your forehead between your eyebrows. Ask yourself the question you seek the answer to. You’ll be surprised how easily the answer will come.
Make Energy Work in Your Favor.
Another way to get answers, as well as change your luck, is to ask a question that’s related to one of the nine Feng Shui energies, including career, wealth, marriage and partnership, and children & creativity, that correlate to a specific area of your home. So if you’re unsure about your career you might ask yourself, “Does my current job suit my personality?”
Then you would write down the question in red ink on a piece of paper and put it in a red envelope in whatever area relates to your question (in this case it would be near your front entryway because that’s the area of your home that relates to your career). Within the next 27 days, the answer will become apparent as long as you keep your mind open and are aware of all opportunities. If you don’t want to have to search for the answer, you can hang a metal chime in the Helpful People area of the house to increase reciprocity and the answer will come to you.
